Customer Reviews
A:
Let me preface by saying I’m 5’11” and 245lbs. I’m new to the kick scooter world and hopped on the craze due to, you guessed it, gas prices. I don’t necessarily live in a area that’s bike path friendly and the sidewalks are less than desirable. I have to commute through some uneven terrain for a bit before getting to those areas with dedicated paths so keep that in mind.
I wanted something reliable, decently fast, and that could handle my weight. I originally purchased the f series from 9bot in hopes it would suffice but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I needed something a bit more powerful and comfortable so I started looking at returning it. I ended up finding the NIU series and just happened to be at a time where there were good coupons available making it the same price as the 9bot. After extensive YouTubing and review reading I decided to make the jump.
Set up was easy. The app is a bit more user friendly than “the-scooter-company-who-must-not-be-named”, and everything seems to connect with ease. One thing I liked about the other app was the social networking between other riders around the world. It was just neat being able to have access to that kind of feature.
The build quality is superior and feels well built and solid. The attention to detail is excellent and even though there is no suspension, even on rocky terrain it feels sturdy. It’s more comfortable than the scooter I returned by about 25%. The wider tires have to account for some of this. It’s also nice to have a wide base and foot room, which the KQi3 Pro has. Wider handle bars also make for a comfortable and confident ride.
As a bigger dude I’m always nervous I’m going to stall out on an incline which I did every time I rode the other scooter. The KQi3 Pro has a substantially more powerful motor and it shows. I’ve been able to climb some impressively steep inclines. Of course there is a bit of a slow down, but nonetheless I make it up just fine. I’m also impressed with its ability to maintain speed with my weight. It doesn’t seem to make any sort of difference.
The range is another impressive point for the cost of this scooter. My weight had little effect on its ability to make it 18 miles on a full charge with many stops and decent inclines.
The design is also a selling point. It has more personality than the others in this price range. The running light/head lamp is a very nice touch, giving it a sense of modernness and maturity. I purchased the black version and I really like it. However, I’m nervous about scratches occurring because powder coat tends to get scratched up easily, but we’ll see.
I haven’t ran this thing through any puddles or rain yet, but it will inevitably happen at some point. Will update review if anything negative occurs.
All-in-all, this thing is just what I was looking for. For my first scooter I’m glad I made this switch. If there’s a deal on this, BUY IT.
G:
I have the KQi3 Pro scooter. Got it through a Indigo campaign the middle of last year. It finally arrived after it got hung-up at the shipping port of entry in Los Angeles. But NIU kept me update really well about this. The scooter arrived perfectly and assembly was easy. I downloaded the app and charged the scooter up to top level. I think the battery was somewhat charged, but I know for shipping reasons it was not probably fully charged. This only took a few hours and off I went. What a great scooter. Now I know the weight limit listed for this scooter is less than my 245#s, but I was very impressed with how well it handles me and still runs very well. The lamp light on this scooter is really good too. I read another review and they seem to think it was not that good, but I thought the light was quite bright. The app on the phone works well. Overall, I am totally impressed with the value I feel I have received on purchasing this scooter. The company NIU seems like a very trustworthy company and I would not hesitate to purchase more products from them in the future. Thank you NIU. Great job on this one! What's next?
Maintenance Tip
🔋 1. Battery Brilliance
Your Niu's battery is the heart of the matter. Treat it right, and it'll treat you to smooth rides. Batteries have cycles—some have 300, some 1000. Follow the ride often mantra of the Ride Often Club for a longer battery life.
🛠️ Service your battery as the user manual commands.
🌡️ Store it where the temperature is warmer than your ex's heart.
⚡ Original charger vibes only.
🔌 Unplug when full—don't let it party all night.
😢 If it runs out, show it some love pronto.
🚗 2. Tyre Tactics
Tyres are the shoes of your Niu, and we all know a stylish ride starts from the ground up.
📏 Check recommended pressure—no overinflating drama.
🐢 Low pressure equals slow speed and risky rim business.
💥 High pressure spells bursty tyres and awkward curves.
🛑 3. Brake Ballet
Brakes are your scooter's superheroes. Keep them caped and ready.
💃 Brake check dance: standstill or a sneaky scoot?
🔄 Replace worn-out pads—safety first, speed second.
📡 Cables fraying? Swap them out like outdated memes.
🎭 Disc brakes? Adjust the calipers; no tightrope acts, please.
🎻 4. Suspension Symphony
Suspension—a silent maestro ensuring your ride is smooth, not rocky.
🐍 Springs or rubber? Tighten the screws for a harmonious journey.
🛢️ Hydraulic suspension? Call in the pros for an oil change.
⚡ 5. Electrical Elegance
The heart of your Niu—its electrical system. Keep it cool, literally.
💧 Moisture and motors don't mix, unless you're into rust.
🌡️ Avoid motor meltdowns; cool down during a heatwave.
☔ Shelter it—extremes aren't a motor's cup of tea.
🚿 6. Cleanse and Lube Ritual
A clean Niu is a happy Niu. Lubricate wisely, or your chain might turn into a gooey mess.
🧼 Degrease before you please—wipe off the dirt and excess oil.
💦 Lubricate, but not too much; a gooey mess is no one's aesthetic.
🚦 7. Safety Serenity
Safety first, Niu second. No arguments.
🚨 Suit up—the road is no runway.
🕵️ Pre-ride inspection—your Niu deserves it.
🕹️ Master the controls—don't let your Niu outsmart you.
📜 Local rules—know them like your favorite playlist.
